What exactly is Jotdown?
Jotdown sends you a writing prompt by email every morning. You reply to the email with whatever comes to mind — a sentence, a paragraph, a page. That's it. No app, no login, no blank page staring back at you.
Do I need to sign up for an account?
No. You join with your email address and everything happens in your inbox. There's no password to remember and no app to install.
What kind of prompts will I get?
Prompts are designed to be low-pressure and open-ended — questions about memory, observation, opinion, and imagination. They follow a 30-day arc starting from Day 1, so every new writer begins at the same place and builds through the same sequence.
What happens after I reply?
You get a short response back — a reflection on what you wrote, a nudge to go deeper, or just a quiet acknowledgement. Think of it as a pen pal who actually reads what you send.
Will other people see what I write?
Only if you want them to. Entries are private by default. You can opt in to share a response on the community page, where other writers share their takes on the same prompt. You control this per entry.
What is the community page?
It's a public page where writers who've chosen to share their entries can read each other's responses to the same prompt. Entries are shown under pen names, not real names. Visit it at replydaily.email/community.
What is a pen name?
When you receive your first prompt, you'll get a link to set a pen name — a pseudonym that appears next to your writing on the community page. It can be a nickname, something invented, or your real name. You can change it anytime.
How do I unsubscribe?
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you'll stop receiving prompts immediately. Your past entries stay in our system but no new emails will be sent.
How much does it cost?
Jotdown is free during the early access period. We'll let you know before anything changes.
